MANCHESTER ? Having gone three years without having beaten Simsbury, the Manchester High boys soccer team was a little bit pumped up for its game against the Trojans on Wednesday night.

Students posted such large gains on the Connecticut Mastery Test and Connecticut Academic Performance Test in 2008 that the district and Manchester High School could be one year away from being removed from the state's list of failing districts and schools.

MANCHESTER ? School administrators? yearly reports to the Board of Education on Manchester?s test scores and status under to the federal No Child Left Behind law usually don?t draw applause.
